No apologies for the technical quality!
I was making my way home from an evening job in Bury for the Manchester Evening News. It was a misty Saturday night with a light drizzle and in the car park where I had left my car these lads were busy re-playing 'Match of the Day'.
The only light came from the top of some pylons in the bus station next door. Yes, a backlit night shot! I couldn't resist the tempatation to shoot, though, and rated my film (HP5) at, well, way beyond its normal limits. The shutter speed speed was about 1/125th sec with the lens (50mm f1.4), not unnaturally, wide open so I had to time the shots very carefully to avoid too much movement blur.
When I got home I developed the film in hot chemicals to squeeze as much as I could out of it. This resulted in some defects (!) which included a nasty bubble in the centre/right. Its thanks to computers and Adobe Photoshop that I can now correct the problems and view the image as I first saw it.
